Globetrotters

Globetrotters is a week-long kids’ summer program offered by International Book Project. The program is completely free, with meals and snacks provided to students during the day.

Over the course of the week, students will develop a greater sense of cultural awareness and global understanding through educational lessons and hands-on activities. Participants will “travel” to five different regions of the world without leaving Lexington, KY. Regions may include, but are not limited to, Southeast Asia, West Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and Eastern Europe. Students will explore the ‘region of the day’, learning about the various cultures, customs, and traditions of the area through immersive cultural lessons that feature food tastings, crafts, dance, music, storytelling, and more!

Every student receives a tote bag with relevant books and supplies needed for the program, which are the students’ to keep upon completion of the program.

Globetrotters is proudly sponsored by the LG&E and KU Energy Foundation and the Junior League of Lexington.

International Book Project will host its 2021 Globetrotters program in-person from 9am-3pm.

Students, ages 8-11, are invited to sign-up until the max number of participants is met (10 students per session).

Session One: June 21-25           Session Two: July 19-23

Note: Both sessions are identical to offer flexibility in scheduling.
