International Book Project enjoys ongoing relationships with these organizations. Whenever possible, IBP works with community organizations and supports local businesses.

 

Kentucky Refugee Ministries helps resettle refugees and welcome immigrants. The services of Kentucky Refugee Ministries encourage hope, advocate for newcomers, and transform the lives of those seeking safety. Each refugee family receives a bookshelf from International Book Project stocked with books to match the ages and reading stages of each family arriving in Fayette County.

Lexington’s Habitat for Humanity mission is to provide everyone with a decent place to live. Once a Habitat home is completed in central Kentucky, International Book Project provides a bookshelf along with a collection of curated books for the family to have in their new home.

God’s Pantry Food Bank serves 50 counties in Central and Eastern Kentucky in partnership with more than 450 food pantries and meal programs. During Covid, the International Book Project partnered with God’s pantry to ensure every school child receiving a meal received an age appropriate book as well.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority

Lexington Housing Authority provides safe and desirable affordable housing to low and moderate income individuals and families. Individuals and families within the LHA network are eligible to receive a free bookshelf and books through our Books in the Bluegrass program.

One Parent Scholar House | Formerly known as Virginia Place

One Parent Scholar House is a program for single parents who are full-time students in a post-secondary educational institution. The primary purpose of the program is to help parents and their young children develop the educational and family life skills needed to achieve self-sufficiency. Completing the One Parent Scholar House program prepares families to live and work successfully. As each family succeeds and leaves the facility, another family moves in and begins to profit from this unique, integrated and comprehensive program. One Parent Scholars are eligible to participate in our Books in the Bluegrass program.

KVC Kentucky is a 501(c)3 nonprofit child welfare and behavioral healthcare organization that provides mental and behavioral health services, family preservation and reunification, and other family-related services. KVC Kentucky refers families in need of literacy resources to our Books in the Bluegrass program.
