“How do you get your books?”You ask. Well, that is quite an interesting story…
Every night when you are tucked in tight in your bed, as your eyelids begin to droop, and you drift off into a magical land called sleep our Book Fairy pays you a visit. If you’ve never heard of her it’s probably because she’s a long lost relative of the Tooth Fairy with very little recognition and barely any hype. The Tooth Fairy, unlike the Book Fairy, is incredibly attention-seeking! But back to the story. Silently, with wings made of book pages, the Book Fairy appears at your bookshelf. After a few moments she finds it – a true gem. “Surely, this book will bring joy and knowledge to a child,” she said as she hugged the book tight to her chest. Then she dusts the book off, puts it into her International Book Project special delivery bag, and off she goes with that book you will never read again and gives it a new life with another family.
It’s a great story. We wish it were true. While there isn’t a Book Fairy to bring books to our warehouse, the process is still just as magical.
The best way for us to receive books that will be sent out to those who need them is through YOU. Yes, you. But, like I mentioned, we don’t have a Book Fairy to take the books off your shelf at night, so you will have to bring the books to us.
How you can send books to us:
If you are local, you can drop off your donation during our normal business hours – if it’s a big haul, you may want to call first to make sure we have help on site. If you are far away you can always mail them to us!
Either way, we are always in need of more books. As the old saying goes – you can never have too many books and that is the saying we live by here at the International Book Project.
