Peace Corps Volunteers

The International Book Project has partnered with U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers (PCV) to provide books overseas for more than four decades. As a PCV, there are certain guidelines that you should be aware of when requesting books.

1. In-Kind Donation Agreement - The Peace Corps requires an In-Kind Donation Agreement signed by your Country Director for every donation to a PCV. At the beginning of the month that your shipment is scheduled to be shipped, you will receive an email with this agreement attached. You will then need to forward this to your Country Director for his/her signature and email it back to IBP by the end of the month.

2. Identify a Local Recipient - You will probably only be serving in your town for 2 or 3 years. IBP's goal is to build an ongoing relationship where your school or library can receive books long after you leave. If possible, identify a local person in your organization who can be the recipient once you have left and help them through the request process.

3. Communicate with Your Replacement - If you do not have a local contact that can take over recipient duties when you leave, please pass IBP's information along to your replacement. Also, please email IBP your replacement's name and email address before your COS.

You can submit your IBP Application to Receive Books online.
